We're hiring!

We currently have the following positions available:

Senior Digital Designer

EdComs is a specialist communications agency developing education and learning resources for clients such as BP, British Red Cross, Samsung and McDonald’s. Core to our offer is digital and we are looking to strengthen our team as we take on new and exciting projects. The digital team comprise approximately a quarter of the EdComs staff.

We are looking for a strong conceptual digital designer who can demonstrate a track record of creating stunning visuals, show the ability to code them into reality and help others see their vision.

You’ll need to be a self-starting, motivated individual with an in-depth knowledge and active interest in digital media – knowing what’s current, possible and just over the horizon – and be able to build these concepts into our work.

This is an important role within our team and as such, you’ll have the opportunity to work across the company with a wide range of clients to help design and produce websites, mobile apps, games and digital marketing pieces. You’ll be working hand in hand with developers and interactive designers and will need to understand the workflow of these disciplines – this is a ‘hands on’ role for someone with ambition and a can-do attitude.

You’ll need to demonstrate:

  • strong conceptual and visualisation design skills
  • in-depth knowledge of software packages to help illustrate these
  • strong HTML and CSS skills and attention to detail
  • an awareness of the latest web technologies and how these can be appropriately implemented
  • at least 3-5 years’ experience in a digital agency environment
  • great communication and team-working skills

Location: London

Salary: depending on experience

Lead Developer

EdComs is a specialist communications agency developing education and learning resources for clients such as BP, British Red Cross, Samsung and McDonald’s. Core to our offer is digital and we are looking to strengthen our team as we take on new and exciting projects. The digital team comprises approximately a quarter of the EdComs staff.

We are looking for a Lead Developer to spearhead our technical offer and help shape our digital products. We want someone with the right mix of creativity, technical knowledge, problem-solving ability and attention to detail to help us continue to deliver award-winning digital projects for our clients. We are a small team and you’ll be hands on in terms of planning, development and testing, whether we’re developing a website, microsite, mobile app, game or marketing initiative.

You’ll be comfortable working with both visual and interactive designers as well as other developers where necessary. Whilst this role is very much about delivery it also has a strong planning element, so you’ll need to have the vision to interpret a brief and be able to articulate this in non-technical language as well as in more formal communications such as specifications.

We currently develop and support websites built in .NET and increasingly PHP so you’ll need to be comfortable with OO code. Exposure to mobile development would also be an advantage as would experience with Content Management Systems – we currently use Umbraco, but not exclusively. You’ll be very familiar with development processes and tools and comfortable explaining these to others and inspiring them to use them.

You’ll need to demonstrate:

  • excellent development and coding practice in at least one server side language
  • excellent problem solving skills
  • exceptional HTML/CSS and scripting language knowledge
  • experience of working with at least one CMS
  • a keen eye for detail
  • at least 3-5 years’ experience in a digital agency environment
  • great communication and team-working skills
