The challenge
The EdComs Consultancy team has helped to create some exciting new brands in the education market.
Our approach
Our approach involves defining the brand positioning and then working with designers to bring the brand to life.
GL Assessment
nferNelson was the UK's largest independent test publisher and took part of its name from its partner, the National Foundation for Educational Research (nfer).
However, this partnership was due to end in late 2007 and there was therefore a need to relaunch the organisation with a new brand name, identity and positioning.
Our Consultancy team was commissioned to:
- develop the new brand
- secure internal buy-in to the proposed changes
- verify the recommendations with customers and stakeholders
- advise on a communications strategy.
The new brand name and strapline was 'GL Assessment - the measure of potential'. Launched in January 2008, it has not only helped retain existing customers but also grown market share.
My Money
My Money is an exciting £10m government programme that aims to increase the profile of personal finance education in schools.
EdComs is working in partnership with the Personal Finance Education Group (pfeg), the National Children's Bureau and the PSHE Association to implement this programme and provide support for Local Authority (LA) advisers and schools.
Our Consultancy team was commissioned to develop a brand identity and positioning for My Money that would appeal to LAs, teachers and pupils.
The new brand has been developed in consultation with teachers. It presents My Money as an innovative and engaging programme that young people will enjoy being part of.
Institute for Education Business Excellence (IEBE)
The Institute for Education Business Excellence (IEBE) was launched in June 2009. Evolving out of the National EBP Network, the IEBE is a professional body dedicated to:
- promoting the highest standards in the work of education business partnerships
- creating real opportunities for young learners to develop the skills they need for adult life.
The IEBE is fully inclusive and is for anyone working in the field of pre-19 education business partnership.
Our Consultancy team worked with the body to create a new identity that reflects its aims and values. While trying to set a professional tone, we also wanted it to feel accessible and welcoming to all.
The three segments of the logo motif represent the three elements of the membership - education business partnership organisations (EBPOs), schools / colleges, and businesses - all working and growing together.
