Department for Children, Schools and Families: Information, advice and guidance

The challenge

The DCSF commissioned the EdComs Market Intelligence team to conduct an extensive piece of desk research on current Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) provision. A recommendation from the report was the need to better highlight and bring to life the benefits of good CEIAG.

As a follow-up, our Consultancy team was commissioned to identify evidence of good CEIAG practice.

Our approach

During April 2009 we carried out a two-stage process.

  • Stage one comprised interviews with key education stakeholders.
  • These stakeholders recommended examples of good CEIAG provision which were used to identify good-practice case studies in Stage two.
  • Stage two comprised seven case studies of good CEIAG practice.

Outcomes

EdComs produced:

  • a report identifying what success looks like and what key messages should be developed to promote good CEIAG
  • a set of expert case studies and quotes, all intended to be used as collateral for the CEIAG campaign.
