We have extensive experience of analysing previously collected qualitative and quantitative data sets to generate new, robust findings.
The work we have done includes thematic analysis on qualitative data from previously conducted questionnaires and surveys, recoding the data, and reanalysing against a framework of pre-defined themes.
We are also experienced at applying more complex methods of analyses to secondary qualitative and quantitative data. These include models of policy evaluation that seek to explain the impact of policies on identified groups and analyses of market position.
Our experience
In 2008, University of the Arts London (UAL) commissioned EdComs to re-analyse the qualitative data captured during the 2008 National Student Survey (NSS).
The purpose of this re-analysis was to apply a framework specifically designed for UAL that would identify the commonalities and differences on opinions of course quality.
We analysed more than 100,000 words of semi-structured questionnaire responses from more than 2,000 students over a period of six weeks.
Specifically, UAL was interested in hearing any key messages in the qualitative data that expanded on or contradicted the quantitative findings of the NSS.
